Ganesh Chalisa meaning in English

Glory, glory, all glory to you, O Ganesha; to you the whole world pays
homage, for you are the delight of Gauri and the charming son of
Shiva. You are the extirpator of all pairs of contraries (such as joy
and sorrow, birth and death, attraction and repulsion, etc.) and
deliver from them.

Glory to you, O son of Shambhu and delight of Gauri, you are the
destroyer of all obstacles and deliverer of all from the cycle of
birth and death. Glory to you, O leader of Shiva's henchmen, bestower
of happiness on all your votaries, teacher of all,and operator of the
intellect!

O Ganesha (Vakratunda),resplendent is the only tusk which you have on
your elephant face and well-adorned is your sacred trunk; the crescent-
shaped triple mark on your forehead is as beautiful as the moon, and
the celestials, men and ascetics who behold your loveliness cannot off
its spell.

On your bosom is a garland of jewels, in your eyes the beauty of the
full-blown lotus and on your head a crown of gems. You deliver your
devotees from anxiety and wield a sacred axe and a beautiful trident
in your hands. Sweet laddus among delicacies and fragrant blossoms
among flowers are your favourites.

Blessed are you, OKaartikeya's brother and beloved son of Shiva and
Gauri; elegantly attired in a beautiful yellow silken dress and
wearing a pair of wooden sandals all studded with gems on your feet,
you are the source of all the blessings of the world.

Both prosperity and accomplishment wave royal whisks (chowries) over
you (as if they were chowrie-burdars) and your vehicle, the mouse,
adds to your splendour at your door. As the story of your life is so
strange and mysterious, who can venture to describe your magnificence,
which passes all telling?

A demon, disguised as Shiva, often came there to delude Gauri in order
to foil his design, Gauri, the beloved consort of Shiva created a
divine form from the scurf of her body.

Asking her son to keep watch, she stationed him at the palace-door
like a doorkeeper. When Shiva himself came there, he, being
unrecognised was denied entrance into the house.

Shiva asked: Tell me, who is your father? In a voice sweet as honey,
you replied, Hearken, sir, I am Gauri's son; don't you dare advance
even a step beyond this point.

" O Sir! Let me take my mother's permission before I allow you to go
inside; wrangling with a mere stripling like me will be of no avail."
Not listening to your behest, Shivaat tempted to rush towards the
house, which so vexed you that you, waxing furious, threw the gauntlet
down.

In a fit of rage, Shiva picked up his trident and driven by delusion
hurled it on you. Your head, tender like the Shirisa flower was
severed and instantly it soared into the sky and disappeared there.

When Shiva went happily inside where Gauri, daughter of the Mountain
king was sitting, he smilingly asked, Tell me, Sati how did you give
birth to son?

On hearing the whole episode, the mystery cleared. Gauri, though
daughter of the great mountain King(celebrated for immobility) was so
moved and distraught that she fell to the ground and said, " You have
done me a great disfavour, my Lord; Now go and fetch the severed head
of my son from wherever you find it!"

Shiva, expert in all skills, took his departure accompanied by Vishnu,
but having failed to find the head, they brought one of an elephant
and placed it upon the trunk and breathed life into it.

It was Lord Shiva who named you Shri Ganesha and blessed you with
knowledge, wisdom and immortality. You are O Lord, the first among
those who are worshiped; you bring joy to the faithful, destroy all
obstructions and cause the operation of the intellect.

Whosoever remembers you before embarking on any mission finds all his
tasks accomplished in the world. The very remembrance of your name
brings all happiness without your all-pardoning grace there is no
security and well being anywhere in the world.

Cursed by you, the moon's face was tarnished with the black reflection
of the earth as it appears on the fourth day in the bright half of
Bhaadrapada (Bhaado), which none would dare to look at. When Shiva
wanted to test you (your might and intelligence) he asked you to
circumnavigate the earth.

While Sadmukha (your brother Kaartikeya) went flying on his peacock,
you adopted an easier course) without budging, you scribbled the name
of Raama on the ground and abandoning all misgivings, circumnavigated
it.

( With utmost devotion) you clasped the feet of your parents and
circumnavigated them seven times. Thus were you rewarded with the
fruit of having circumnavigated the earth, a feat that made the gods
rain down flowers on you.

While dwelling in the hermitage of the sage Durvasa, Sundardaasa, a
devotee of Raama, composed this hymn to Ganesha in forty verses just
as the foremost among the adepts in the Shiva Purana had done.

The wise who hymn the glory of Ganesha every day are blessed with
supreme bliss. The lord of Shiva'shenchmen who blesses his votaries
with wealth, progeny and happiness also bestows upon them every
auspicious object.

DOHAA (meaning in English)

He who repeats this hymn with earnestness is blessed with all felicity
and gracious gifts, the novelty of which grows ever greater, as well
as great honour. On the third day of the dark half of the month of
Bhaadra in the Vikrama year two thousand and ten (A. D.1953) this
hymn in forty verses was completed. Thus has Sundaradaasademonstrated
his unflinching devotion to Lord Ganesha.

Vinayak Savarkar
Vinayak D. Savarkar (1883-1966)
Scholar, Leader, Mahä-Patriot
Veer Savarkar, as he is known among his followers,
urged to build a militarily strong India.

Born Leader

Savarkar could be called a born rebel. He organized a gang of kids ,Vanarsena (Monkey Brigade) when he was just eleven. A fearless individual, he wanted everybody around him to become physically strong and able to face any disasters-- natural or man-made. He conducted long tours, hiking, swimming and mountaineering around Nasik, his birthplace in Maharashtra.

During his high school days, he used to organize Shivaji Utsav and Ganesh Utsav, started by Tilak (whom Savarkar considered as his Guru) and used these occasions to put up plays on nationalistic themes. He started writing poems, essays, plays, etc. to inspire people, which he had developed as a passion.

Later he went to Pune for college education and founded the "Abhinav Bharat Society". As a serious student of nationalism he found bigger venue now; with growing youngsters, he bloomed as a leader as well. All political activities were banned by the ruling British then and he had to undertake all transactions, communications in secret and was expelled from hostel and at one point from the college as well. But since he managed to get the prestigious Shivaji scholarship (named after Shivaji) to study law at London, the college authorities had to make way for his scholastic journey!

Ram Navami

Sri-Ramnavami is dedicated to the memory of Lord Rama. It occurs on the ninth day (navami). The festival commemorates the birth of Rama who is remembered for his preperous and righteous reign. Ramrajya (the reign of Rama) has become synonymous with a period of peace and prosperity. Mahatma Gandhi also used this term to describe how, according to him, India should be after independence.
Ramnavami occurs in the month of March. Celebrations begin with a prayer to the Sun early in the morning. At midday, when Lord Rama is supposed to have been born, a special prayer is performed. In northern India especially, an event that draws popular participation is the Ramnavami procession. The main attraction in this procession is a gaily decorated chariot in which four persons are dressed up as Rama, his brother Laxman, his queen Sita and his disciple Hanuman. The chariot is accompanied by several other persons dressed up in ancient costumes as work by Rama's solders. The procession is a gusty affair with the participants shouting praises echoing the happy days of Rama's reign.
Surya - The Sun was recognised as the source of light and heat even in ancient times. The importance of the Sun was much more in the higher latitudes from where the Aryans are supposed to have migrated into India. Many royal dynasties potrayed symbols of virility like the Sun, Eagle, Lion etc. as their progenitor. Rama's dynasty considered themselves to have descended from the Sun. This could have led to the tagging on, of Rama's birthday to a festival devoted to the sun.
On the face of it Sri-Ramnavmi appears to be just a festival commemorating the reign of a king who was later deified. But even behind present-day traditions there are clues which unmistakably point to the origin of Ramnavmi as lying beyond the Ramayana story.
Sri Ramnavami occurs at the beginning of summer when the sun has started moving nearer to the northern hemisphere. The Sun is considered to be the progenitor of Rama's dynasty which is called the Sun dynasty (Raghukula or Raghuvamsa, Raghu means Sun and Kula or Vamsa mean familial descendant). Rama is also known as Raghunatha, Raghupati, Raghavendra etc. That all these names begin with the prefix Raghu is also suggestive of some link with Sun-worship. The hour chosen for the observance of the lord's birth is that when the sun is overhead and is at its maximum brilliance. In some Hindu sects, prayers on Ramnavami day start not with an invocation to Rama but to Surya (sun). Again the syllable Ra is used in the word to describe the sun and brilliance in many languages. In Sanskrit, Ravi and Ravindra mean Sun.
Significantly, the ancient Egyptians termed the sun as Amon Ra or simply as "Ra". In Latin the syllable Ra is used to connote light. For example, we have Radiance which emission of light, or Radium which means any substance emitting light or brilliance. The common element is the syllable Ra which in many languages is used to derive words for describing Sun or light.
The occurrence of this syllable in most names used for Rama alongwith other clues is strongly suggestive that the festival Ramnavami antedates the R- ayana and it must have originated much before the Ramayana, as a 'Sun-festival' for invoking the Sun who was recognised as the source of light and heat even in ancient times. The importance of the Sun was much more in the higher latitudes from where the Aryans are supposed to have migrated into India. Subhash Chandra Bose

Born:
January 23, 1897 Died: August 18, 1945

Achievements: Passed Indian Civil Services Exam; elected Congress President in 1938 and 1939; formed a new party All India Forward block; organized Azad Hind Fauj to overthrow British Empire from India.

Subhas Chandra Bose, affectionately called as Netaji, was one of the most prominent leaders of Indian freedom struggle. Though Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru have garnered much of the credit for successful culmination of Indian freedom struggle, the contribution of Subash Chandra Bose is no less. He has been denied his rightful place in the annals of Indian history. He founded Indian National Army (Azad Hind Fauj) to overthrow British Empire from India and came to acquire legendary status among Indian masses.

Subhas Chandra Bose was born on January 23, 1897 in Cuttack, Orissa. His father Janaki Nath Bose was a famous lawyer and his mother Prabhavati Devi was a pious and religious lady. Subhas Chandra Bose was the ninth child among fourteen siblings. Subhas Chandra Bose was a brilliant student right from the childhood. He topped the matriculation examination of Calcutta province and graduated with a First Class in Philosophy from the Scottish Churches College in Calcutta. He was strongly influenced by Swami Vivekananda's teachings and was known for his patriotic zeal as a student. To fulfill his parents wishes he went to England in 1919 to compete for Indian Civil Services. In England he appeared for the Indian Civil Service competitive examination in 1920, and came out fourth in order of merit. However, Subhas Chandra Bose was deeply disturbed by the Jallianwalla Bagh massacre, and left his Civil Services apprenticeship midway to return to India in 1921.

After returning to India Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose came under the influence of Mahatma Gandhi and joined the Indian National Congress. On Gandhiji's instructions, he started working under Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das, whom he later acknowledged his political guru. Soon he showed his leadership mettle and gained his way up in the Congress' hierarchy. In 1928 the Motilal Nehru Committee appointed by the Congress declared in favour of Domination Status, but Subhas Chandra Bose along with Jawaharlal Nehru opposed it, and both asserted that they would be satisfied with nothing short of complete independence for India. Subhas also announced the formation of the Independence League. Subhas Chandra Bose was jailed during Civil Disobedience movement in 1930. He was released in 1931 after Gandhi-Irwin pact was signed. He protested against the Gandhi-Irwin pact and opposed the suspension of Civil Disobedience movement specially when Bhagat Singh and his associates were hanged.

Subash Chandra Bose was soon arrested again under the infamous Bengal Regulation. After an year he was released on medical grounds and was banished from India to Europe. He took steps to establish centres in different European capitals with a view to promoting politico-cultural contacts between India and Europe. Defying the ban on his entry to India, Subash Chandra Bose returned to India and was again arrested and jailed for a year. After the General Elections of 1937, Congress came to power in seven states and Subash Chandra Bose was released. Shortly afterwards he was elected President of the Haripura Congress Session in 1938. During his term as Congress President, he talked of planning in concrete terms, and set up a National planning Committee in October that year. At the end of his first term, the presidential election to the Tripuri Congress session took place early 1939. Subhas Chandra Bose was re-elected, defeating Dr. Pattabhi Sitaramayya who had been backed by Mahatma Gandhi and the Congress Working Committee. Clouds of World War II were on the horizon and he brought a resolution to give the British six months to hand India over to the Indians, failing which there would be a revolt. There was much opposition to his rigid stand, and he resigned from the post of president and formed a progressive group known as the Forward Block.

Subhas Chandra Bose now started a mass movement against utilizing Indian resources and men for the great war. There was a tremendous response to his call and he was put under house arrest in Calcutta. In January 1941, Subhas Chandra Bose disappeared from his home in Calcutta and reached Germany via Afghanistan. Working on the maxim that "an enemy's enemy is a friend", he sought cooperation of Germany and Japan against British Empire. In January 1942, he began his regular broadcasts from Radio Berlin, which aroused tremendous enthusiasm in India. In July 1943, he arrived in Singapore from Germany. In Singapore he took over the reins of the Indian Independence Movement in East Asia from Rash Behari Bose and organised the Azad Hind Fauj (Indian National Army) comprising mainly of Indian prisoners of war. He was hailed as Netaji by the Army as well as by the Indian civilian population in East Asia. Azad Hind Fauj proceeded towards India to liberate it from British rule. Enroute it lliberated Andeman and Nicobar Islands. The I.N.A. Head quarters was shifted to Rangoon in January 1944. Azad Hind Fauj crossed the Burma Border, and stood on Indian soil on March 18 ,1944.

However, defeat of Japan and Germany in the Second World War forced INA to retreat and it could not achieve its objective. Subhas Chandra Bose was reportedly killed in an air crash over Taipeh, Taiwan (Formosa) on August 18, 1945. Though it is widely believed that he was still alive after the air crash not much information could be found about him.

Difference among CV, Resume and BioData

Difference among CV, Resume and BioData

People use the words RESUME, C.V., and BIO-DATA interchangeably for the
document highlighting skills, education, and experience that a candidate
submits when applying for a job. On the surface level, all the three
mean the same. However, there are intricate differences.

RESUME

Resume Is a French word meaning "summary", and true to the word
meaning, signifies a summary of one's employment, education, and other
skills, used in applying for a new position. A resume seldom exceeds one
side of an A4 sheet, and at the most two sides. They do not list out all
the education and qualifications, but only highlight specific skills
customized to target the job profile in question.
A resume is usually broken into bullets and written in the third person
to appear objective and formal. A good resume starts with a brief
Summary of Qualifications, followed by Areas of Strength or Industry
Expertise in keywords, followed by Professional Experience in reverse
chronological order. Focus is on the most recent experiences, and prior
experiences summarized. The content aims at providing the reader a
balance of responsibilities and accomplishments for each position. After
Work experience come Professional Affiliations, Computer Skills, and
Education

C.V CURRICULUM VITAE

C.V Is a Latin word meaning "course of life". Curriculum
Vitae (C.V.) is therefore a regular or particular course of study
pertaining to education and life. A C.V. is more detailed than a resume,
usually 2 to 3 pages, but can run even longer as per the requirement. A
C.V. generally lists out every skills, jobs, degrees, and professional
affiliations the applicant has acquired, usually in chronological order.
A C.V. displays general talent rather than specific skills for any
specific positions.

BIO-DATA

Bio Data the short form for Biographical Data, is the old-fashioned
terminology for Resume or C.V. The emphasis in a bio data is on personal
particulars like date of birth, religion, sex, race, nationality,
residence, martial status, and the like. Next comes a chronological
listing of education and experience. The things normally found in a
resume, that is specific skills for the job in question comes last, and
are seldom included. Bio-data also includes applications made in
specified formats as required by the company.

A resume is ideally suited when applying for middle and senior level
positions, where experience and specific skills rather than education is
important. A C.V., on the other hand is the preferred option for fresh
graduates, people looking for a career change, and those applying for
academic positions. The term bio-data is mostly used in India while
applying to government jobs, or when applying for research grants and
other situations where one has to submit descriptive essays.

Resumes present a summary of highlights and allow the prospective
employer to scan through the document visually or electronically, to see
if your skills match their available positions. A good resume can do
that very effectively, while a C.V. cannot. A bio-data could still
perform this role, especially if the format happens to be the one
recommended by the employer.

Personal information such as age, sex, religion and others, and hobbies
are never mentioned in a resume. Many people include such particulars in
the C.V. However, this is neither required nor considered in the US
market. A Bio-data, on the other hand always include such personal
particulars.

NaamYogi Shree Bramhachaitanya Maharaj spent his entire life in enchanting the Divine Name of Lord Raam and spreading the love of God’s Name amongst people.

In addition to this Shree Maharaj taught his followers two more ways to serve Lord :

First is by distributing food amongst the hungry people, called Ann-Daan and
Second is by worshiping Visible Image of God, called Sagun-Bhakti

Number of persons viz. educated, uneducated, poor, rich, wise-unwise etc. got fascinated by Shree Maharaj’s personality and his life. His life mesmerized all the persons and attracted them towards GOD. In reality, it is not possible to describe in few words, the divine and gigantic life sketch of the NaamYogi. But just to inform his followers, few important events in The Life of NaamYogi Shree Bramhachaitanya Maharaj are presented below :-

Yr. 1845 - Shree Maharaj was born in Gondavale, a small village near Taluka Dahivadi in District Sataraa of Maharashtra State (India). His original name was “Ganapati”. His grand father “Lingopantt” used to worship Lord Vitthal of Pandharpur. Ganapati’s father “Ravaji” was a great devotee; he used to enchant the sacred Name of Lord Vishnu. Ganapati’s mother Gitamai was very generous. She used to called Ganapati as Ganu

Yr. 1857 - During childhood, Ganapati used to enchant holy name of Lord RAAM, all the time in a day. He left house in search of Philosophical Guru (Satt-Guru) at the age of 12year. At that time He was married as per old Indian tradition.

Yr. 1861 - Ganapati had to wander entire country in search for Satt-Guru. He visited Shree Swami Samartha of Akkalkot, Shree Ramakrishna Param Hauns in Bengal and many more saints. After searching enter India for about four years, Ganu was asked by one another saint Shree Ramkrushna (from southern India) to go to Yehlegaon to Shree Tukaraam-Chaitany.

Yr. 1862 - Accordingly he came to Shree Tukaraam-Chaitanya (popularly called as Tukamai) his Philosophical Guru i.e. Satt-Guru.

Yr. 1862 - Shree Tukamai was born in a small village Yehlegaon located in eastern Maharashtra. He tested / examined Shree Maharaj for nine months and then showered his blessings on Shree Maharaj (i.e. ULTIMATE KNOWLEDGE). Shree Tukamai renamed Ganpati as BRAMHACHAITANYA and gave him Holy Name of Lord Raam i.e. SHREE RAAM JAY RAAM JAY JAY RAAM. Shree Tukamai thus initiated Shree Maharaj.

Yr. 1875 - After getting blessed by Tukamai, Shree Maharaj left Yehlegaon. Shree traveled in Himalayan region for about 12year and then returned back to home in Gondavale. After coming back to Gondavale Shree Maharaj started living normal life. He taught Yog to his wife. At the age of about 32 his first wife left this world. After this, Shree Maharajs mother Gitamai, started insisting about remarriage. Hence Shree Maharaj got remarried as per the old traditions, but with a bind girl. Latter she was called as Aaisaheb.

Yr. 1891 - Shree Maharaj brought awareness about Gods Holy name amongst poor middleclass people. He constructed many temples of Lord RAAM and Hanuman all over India. He taught poor middleclass people how to please GOD by three divine ways & how to enjoy life with pride & dignity. Shree Maharaj built a Temple of Lord Raam called as THORLE - RAAM MANDIR (see the image of this Temple ahead ) . . . .

Yr. 1896 - Entire country faced a sever drought in Yr1876 and Yr1896. During this critical period Shree Maharaj was a great shelter for poor villagers of Gondavale. Shree Maharaj took lots of pains to provide the villagers job, food and shelter. But while doing so he kept on emphasizing importance of GODS Holy NAME. By this time Shree Maharaj had routed his philosophy deeper into the hearts of a common men. A group of dedicated persons had started gathering around him. Many well-known personalities viz. Lokmanya Tilak, Vasuveo Balvant Phadke any many more used to come to Shree Maharaj to listen to him, to discuss with him and finally to obtain his Blessings.

in addition to GODs holy NAME, shree mahaaraj addressed -

(1) SAGUN-UPAASANAA (Sagun-Bhakti)

(2) ANN-DAAN (distributing food to poor people)

(3) GOSEVAA (serving cow and other poor animals)

Yr. 1913 - Shree Mahaaraj was literally like father of all the villagers of Gondavale. Till this time many persons all over the Maharashtra had started coming to Shree Maahraj.

Shree Maharaj never refused anybody. He accepted the person with his positive and negative points as well.

After establishing a good setup of RAAM NAAM and other good things at Gondavale Shree Mahaaraj took MAHASAMADHI on 22December of Yr1913.

Though Shree Maharaj has physically left this world, he is staying in Gondavale and the hearts of his followers in the form of Divine Name of Lord Raam.
